Intercultural communication
Client: Camoplast Solideal
Creation of synergy for better productivity
Following the acquisition of a Korean company, Camoplast (headquarters located in Quebec) experienced some difficulties fully integrating the Korean personnel. Integration difficulties can indeed lead to failure in mergers and acquisitions: provoked by cultural distance and worsened by communication deficiencies between teams, integration difficulties can have unfortunate consequences. Aware that it is important to rally the troupes around a common goal as quickly as possible, Camoplast turned to our expertise in intercultural communication. If there is a synergy between the teams, multiculturalism offers potential innovation and can become a major asset for companies.
Orchimedia collaborated with Camoplast to design and produce personalised intercultural training. Following the initial diagnostic, we analysed the situation and noticed that despite the problems, there was a willingness from both sides to improve the relations between the teams. Thus, the first instalment of our training consisted of sparking the mutual understanding of the North American and Korean teams. The second instalment suggested a few tools and procedures for employees in order to side-step certain recurring problems.
Our multilingual virtual training included both scenario videos interpreted by the North Americans and Koreans, based on real problems experienced in the company, and Flash animations, designed, scripted and produced by the Orchimedia team.
